Cleaning and Prevention

Implants
A dental implant mimics the form and function of a natural tooth. A natural tooth is a solid structure that has 2 parts: the root and the crown. The root is the part anchored bone, and the crown is the visible part of your tooth that you use to chew, talk and smile. An implant has 2 separate parts: a titanium implant body that is anchored in the bone, and the crown that screws into the implant.
Night and Snore Guards
Excessive jaw clenching and bruxism can accelerate tooth and jaw deterioration. Meanwhile, snoring can impact the quality of sleep and that of those around you.
Periodontal Maintenance
Among the causes for periodontal (gum) disease are genetic susceptibility, smoking, and other illnesses like diabetes. Periodontal maintenance involves removing porous mineral buildup from the teeth both above and below the gum-line. This pours mineral buildup is often called calculus or tartar. It shelters harmful bacteria that cause periodontal bone loss, leading to loose and missing teeth.
Whitening
Dr. Schames designs custom bleaching trays to fit your exact teeth. The Doctor teaches his patients how to use bleaching gel to whiten teeth while minimizing tooth sensitivity.
